For Class 2A in Iowa high school football, the regular season is complete. That levels the playing field when determining just who had the best regular season.

As the playoffs prepare to begin, we are asking you, the reader to cast your vote for the 2A player of the year in Iowa high school football.

The nominees are below, with voting ending on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. 

Nominees for The Sporting News Class 2A Iowa High School Football Player of the Year

Brock Badding, Carroll Kuemper: Badding threw 24 touchdown passes and 1,720 yards, leading the Knights to an unbeaten regular season.

Cal Bonifas, Bellevue: Bonifas recorded a 2A-best 2,194 yards passing, throwing 23 touchdown passes.

Mack Murdock, Centerville: The sophomore has become a standout, recording 22 touchdown passes and 1,712 yards with just one interception. He also has five picks on defense.

Laken Caves, Alburnett: Caves rushed 160 times for 1,374 yards, scoring 16 touchdowns.

Quinn Street, Osage: Along with rushing for 1,038 yards and 19 touchdowns, Street threw for 1,470 yards and 14 TDs.

Keenan Kilburg, Bellevue: After recording a 100-catch season as a junior, Kilburg continues to dominate, recording 74 receptions for 1,232 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Eaghan Fleshman, Alburnett: Fleshman has been a monster on defense, registering 23 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks among his 43 tackles.

Ayden Antonelli, Anamosa: Antonelli continues to bother opposing offenses, making 45 tackles with 13.5 for loss and six sacks.

Chase Wagaman, PCM: Wagaman has been a two-way terror for the Mustangs. On defense, he has picked off four passes, returning one for a score. He has 1,258 yards passing and 17 TDs, adding 183 and five scores on the ground.

Talan Fuson, Woodward-Granger: Fuson has rushed for 894 yards and 12 TDs, thrown for 813 yards and seven scores, and has 21 tackles with two interceptions on defense. 

Jaxon Paulsrud, Cherokee: Paulsrud has rushed for 1,110 yards and 17 touchdowns, thrown for 763 and seven more while making 57.5 tackles on defense. Of those, 9.5 have been for loss with a fumble recovery and a punt return for a TD.
