Here are the candidates for The Sporting News California high school football Team of the Week for Week Five (Sep. 25-27). Vote as many times as you'd like until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, and the results will be announced in the following days.

Bakersfield Christian: The Eagles took down Tulare Union 30-7 in a battle of 4-0 teams to start 5-0 for the first time since 2007.

Bishop Diego: After winning only four games the last two seasons, Bishop Diego is off to a 5-0 start following a 43-18 win against Alemany. The Cardinals last started 5-0 in 2021.

Corona del Mar: One year after going 4-6, the Sea Kings are 5-0 for the first time since 2021 thanks to a 35-13 win against Trabuco Hills.

La Serna: La Serna upset reigning Southern Section D3 champion and state 1-A champion Edison (Huntington Beach) to snap a two-game skid.

Livermore: The Cowboys defeated Heritage (Brentwood) 27-14 to start 5-0 for the first time since 2022 and are now allowing just 16 PPG.

Manteca: The 5-0 Buffaloes made a statement in a rematch of last year's Valley Oak League title game by blowing out runner-up Central Catholic 49-7 on the road.

Point Loma: The Pointers rolled La Jolla 37-7 to move to 5-0 for the first time in 20 years.

Rancho Bernardo: The Broncos are 5-0 for the first time since 2016 after surviving San Diego 23-16 in overtime.

Serra (San Mateo): After starting 0-3 against nationally-ranked competition, the Padres blew out rival Valley Christian (San Jose) 41-6 to open WCAL play with their first win of the season.

Simi Valley: The Pioneers finished on a 34-14 run to defeat previously-unbeaten Thousand Oaks 48-28.

St. Joseph (Santa Maria): In a battle of two teams entering on four-game winning streaks, the Knights gave Shafter its first loss in a 38-7 rout.

Windsor: The Jaguars are 5-0 for the second season in a row after rolling to a 59-21 win over Miramonte.
