With the first week (Week Zero) of California high school football behind us, it's time to begin our weekly roundup of the state's top individual performances from each weekend.

From Pleasant Valley's Titus Andrus to Serra's Khary Wilder, here's a look at some of the top stars from last week.

Top performances from Week Zero of California football

Titus Andrus, Pleasant Valley: Andrus led the charge on both ends as Pleasant Valley delivered a resounding 41-21 win against Central Catholic. He ran for 273 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries, and his seven tackles and one TFL were team-highs too.

Brady Annett, Corona del Mar: Annett was on fire in a 41-6 blowout of Rancho Verde, completing 13 of 15 passes (86.7%) for 256 yards and five touchdowns. He also picked up 54 yards and a touchdown on just three carries. 

Zachary Benitez, Granite Hills (El Cajon): It's safe to say Benitez started his junior year with a bang. He led the Eagles to a 45-29 win over Oceanside with 456 yards and four touchdowns on 38-48 completion (79.2%), and even went 6-6 on PATs and 1-1 on field goals (29 yards).

Damari Booth, Vista Murrieta: Booth broke out in a big way to beat Great Oak 47-25, rushing for 146 yards and three touchdowns.

Henderson Carter, Norco: Carter led the charge for Norco's defense in a 35-27 victory over Cajon, leading the Cougars with nine tackles and two interceptions, including a pick-six.

Dominick Catalano, Corona Centennial: Catalano led Centennial to a 42-14 rout of Servite with 330 yards and four touchdowns on 24-38 completion (63.2%) plus 43 rushing yards.

JR Cruz, Clovis East: The sophomore ran for 155 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in his varsity debut, a 42-14 win against San Joaquin Memorial.

Malaki Davis, Corona Centennial: Davis had a breakout game in the Huskies' big win over Servite with seven carries for 67 yards and two touchdowns plus three catches for 50 yards and another score.

Jelani Dippel, Central East: Dippel was one of a few Bengals to dominate in a 41-12 win over Inglewood. He completed 15 of 20 passes (75%) for 291 yards and three touchdowns and ran eight times for 65 yards and another TD.

Bayon Harris, Central East: Harris had a two-way stat line you rarely see in the Bengals' 41-12 rout of Inglewood. He made seven catches for 133 yards and a touchdown while recording two sacks and forcing a fumble.

Diego Hernandez, St. Mary's (Stockton): Hernandez had a career night as St. Mary's defeated Bishop Manogue (NV) 51-38, running for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

Jaden Jefferson, Cathedral: Jefferson led Cathedral to a 36-14 win over Loyola via both air and ground. He threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns on 15-21 completion (71.4%) and rushed six times for 71 yards and two more TDs.

Derrick Johnson II, Murrieta Valley: The Oklahoma commit made big plays on both ends to beat Rancho Cucamonga 28-26, catching three passes for 106 yards and a touchdown while forcing a fumble on defense.

Taylor Lee, Pacifica (Oxnard): Lee was impeccable in a 59-17 blowout of West Ranch, completing 13 of 14 passes (92.9%) for 285 yards and four touchdowns.

Ryder Lyons, Folsom: In a battle of the two reigning Sac-Joaquin Section top dogs, the 5-star BYU commit torched Grant for 408 yards and four touchdowns on 31-37 completion (83.8%) plus a rushing TD to win 51-13.

Brennan Martinez, Vista Murrieta: The senior linebacker led the charge as Vista Murrieta slowed down Great Oak's strong running game to win 47-25. He led the team with eight tackles, seven solo tackles, and five tackles for loss.

Jackson Melo, Tesoro: Melo grabbed two interceptions to help Tesoro to a 24-14 win over El Toro.

Braedon Miller, Beaumont: Miller helped lead Beaumont to a 51-14 blowout of San Jacinto with eight catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns.

Diego Montes, Kennedy (Granada Hills): Montes had a performance for the books to win a game for the books as Kennedy outdueled Eagle Rock 59-56. He completed 26 of 38 passes (68.4%) for three touchdowns and 300 yards and ran 12 times for 178 yards and four TDs. 

Ashton Pannell, Millikan: In his first game as a Ram after transferring from Loyola, Pannell lit up Newbury Park for 333 and four touchdowns on 9-11 completion (81.8%). He also ran five times for 30 yards and a TD as Millikan beat the reigning CIF-SS D2 champion 49-20.

Rashad Robinson, Lincoln (San Diego): Robinson erupted for 148 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries in a 57-29 victory over Punahou (HI).

Joseph Rodriguez, Murrieta Valley: Rodriguez recorded game-highs of nine tackles (one for loss), five solo tackles, and two fumble recoveries in a 28-26 win over Rancho Cucamonga.

Asher Runnion, Rocklin: The senior DL had a breakout game with three sacks and a forced fumble as Rocklin cruised past Turlock 35-7.

Robert Smith Jr., Liberty (Bakersfield): While it wasn't enough to get the win, Smith's monster game was enough to get Liberty 45 points in a narrow loss to Colorado powerhouse Mountain Vista. Smith completed 30 of 50 passes (60%) for 411 yards and four touchdowns to one interception.

Jamie Spurgeon, Clovis East: The Timberwolves' new QB1 had quite a starting debut. Spurgeon completed 27 of 43 passes (62.8%) for 260 yards and three touchdowns, and he ran for 117 yards.

Uziah Todd, Cajon: Despite a 35-27 loss to Norco, Todd was a monster on defense. The junior strong safety totaled 10 tackles (seven solo), two TFLs, a pick, and a forced fumble.

Darnell Turner, Granite Bay: The Sacramento State commit had two interceptions including a pick-six and added a touchdown catch in a 45-17 drubbing of Rio Americano.

Khary Wilder, Serra (Gardena): The 4-star Ohio State commit kicked off his senior year with nine tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, five QB-hurries, and a fumble recovery to shut out Palos Verdes.

Gavin Williams, Damien: The 4-star prospect showed why he's listed at ATH by dominating on both ends in a 20-15 win against Aquinas. Williams made six catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns, led Damien with eight tackles, and grabbed a pick.

Tyree Wilson, Rancho Cucamonga: Despite falling 28-26 to Murrieta Valley, Wilson and QB Jacob Chambers did everything they could. Wilson had seven catches for 130 yards and all three of Chambers' touchdown passes.

Blake Wong, Norco: Wong anchored Norco's offense in a 35-27 upset of Cajon with nine catches for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

Carlos Young, Clovis: Young was everywhere in Clovis' 48-0 annihilation of Central Valley Christian. He made three catches for 57 yards, returned two punts for a total of 51 yards, and grabbed two interceptions including a pick-six.
