With roughly 14,000 11-man high school football teams competing across the country, there are always several dozen teams on lengthy double-digit win streaks.
And on any given weekend, several of those large streaks usually end. This weekend was no different as at least five teams on double-digit win streaks saw those long runs terminated.
The longest streaks to end were two 16-game win streaks in Massachusetts and Mississippi. The Scituate [MA] Sailors saw their run end in a last-minute 20-15 loss at the Plymouth [MA] South Panthers in The Bay State, and later that evening, the Baldwyn [MS] Bearcats' streak ended in a 27-6 loss at the Biggersville [Corinth, MS] Lions down in the Magnolia State.

Massachusetts, Mississippi streaks dated back to last season
Scituate's streak began in the 2024 season opener in a 21-14 win over the Foxborough [MA] Warriors – the first win in what would ultimately be a 13-game march to the Massachusetts MIAA Division 4 state championship where the Sailors beat the Duxbury [MA] Dragons, 29-13. That win avenged a 62-33 loss to the Dragons in the previous year's title game on December 1, 2023 – the last time the Sailors had lost a game prior to Friday night. Their streak continued through the first three games of the 2025 season.
Baldwyn, meanwhile, started its own 16-game run on September 27, 2024, in a 42-16 thumping of the West Lowndes [Columbus, MS] Panthers – one week after getting crushed, 55-6, at the East Webster [Maben, MS] Wolverines. Baldwyn's run spanned the final 11 games of the 2024 season, culminating in a 21-20 win over the Simmons [Hollandale, MS] Blue Devils in Mississippi's MHSAA Class 1A state championship game. Baldwyn continued the streak through the first five games of the 2025 season before falling to Biggersville last Friday night.
