St. John Bosco beats Santa Margarita: Final score, results, highlights from Trinity League football game image

St. John Bosco, the consensus No. 1 team in high school football, moved to 8-0 on Friday with a 27-14 victory against Santa Margarita to nearly clinch a Trinity League title.

Sophomore QB Koa Malau'ulu dazzled once again for the Braves, throwing one touchdown each to all four star members of Bosco's receivers room.

The Braves never quite pulled away thanks to their nearly 200 yards from a litany of penalties, but they also avoided any late drama and close calls.

St. John Bosco set the tone with a 63-yard touchdown from Carson Clark exactly one minute into the game and took a 14-0 lead with 3:46 left in the first on a long touchdown catch by Daniel Odom. Trent Mosley got Santa Margarita's offense going on the following drive, taking a handoff 70 yards to the one-yard line and punching it in shortly afterwards via wildcat snap. Then St. John Bosco went up 21-7 a few seconds into the second quarter when Malau'ulu completed his 11th straight pass to start the game to DJ Tubbs for another touchdown.

It looked like St. John Bosco was about to run away with the game not long after that when Joshua Holland grabbed an interception. But Santa Margarita's defense locked in and was stout from there on out. The Eagles had a chance to cut the deficit to 21-10 going into halftime but missed a 38-yard field goal.

Santa Margarita made it a one-score game with 4:53 left in the third quarter on another rushing touchdown from Mosley. The final score of the game came two minutes later when Malau'ulu connected with Madden Williams for a 35-yard touchdown.
