Manteca has officially gone undefeated and swept the Valley Oak League this regular season. The Buffaloes overcame some early two-score deficits on Friday to win 40-26 at Oakdale.

The Mustangs raced out to a 16-0 lead on a rushing touchdown by Chase Lopez plus a Richard Flores two-point conversion run followed by a 52-yard rushing touchdown and rushing conversion by Wes Burford. Manteca got on the board early in the second quarter on a 41-yard rushing touchdown by Nikko Juarez, but it still trailed 16-6 after a failed two-point conversion. Xyloh Kuresa brought the Buffaloes within two points with a pick-six that was followed up by a two-point conversion. But Oakdale responded on another Burford touchdown to go up 24-14 with 3:49 left in the half.

That was when Manteca's defense locked in for the rest of the game and its passing game got going as well. Owen Gully cut the deficit to 24-21 with a bomb from about 60 yards out to Quinn Martinez, but Oakdale went up 26-21 when Manteca's next drive ended with a botched long snap and/or punt in the end zone for a safety to send the Mustangs into halftime up five points.

The next two touchdowns were another pair of Gully touchdown passes to the Harris twins from past 60 yards, one in the third quarter to Jaylin to put the Buffaloes up 27-26 and one in the fourth to Jayden to go up 33-26. Juarez iced the cake with 4:50 left in the game with his second rushing score from past 40 yards out.
