Our list of active 20-game win streaks is now up to 30 teams as we head into National Week 9.
That's three more than we had last week as every active team with winning streaks of 20 or more games won last week while an additional three teams reached the 20 consecutive-win mark. National list of active 20-game high school football win streaks
As long as they continue to win, the Marion Local [Maria Stein, OH] Flyers will continue to be the top team on this list. The Flyers defeated the Fort Recovery [OH] Indians, 41-7, Friday night to add another win to the nation's longest active streak.
The second-place team on our list was also in action, and the Garden City [NY] Trojans picked up their 58th straight win in a 46-7 victory over the MacArthur [Levittown, NY] Generals.
The three new schools joining our list of teams on active win streaks of 20 or more games include the Alcoa [TN] Tornadoes, Carthage [TX] Bulldogs, and Platte County [Platte City, MO] Pirates.
Washington's Royal Knights and Delaware's Caravel Academy notch landmark wins
The Royal [Royal City, WA] Knights picked up their 40th straight win in dramatic fashion last Friday night. Playing at home against the undefeated Cashmere [WA] Bulldogs, the top two teams in the state of Washington's WHSAA Class 1A ranks staged an instant classic with the Knights escaping 21-15 in overtime. The two Evergreen State powerhouses last met in the state semifinals on November 30 with Royal winning in a 44-7 romp. Friday night's outcome sets up the possibility of an exciting rematch in this year's playoff bracket.
Caravel Academy of Bear, Delaware, also picked up a notable win in a close game as the Buccaneers downed one of the First State's top programs in a 21-19 win over the Caesar Rodney [Camden, DE] Riders. The win is Caravel's 30th consecutive victory in their current streak.
