Our list of active 20-game win streaks includes 27 teams as we head into National Week 8.
That's three more than we had last week as two teams with winning streaks of 20 or more lost while five more teams reached the 20 consecutive-win mark. As always, if you are aware of any teams we haven't tracked down, yet, you can reach out to us X.com @RoadTripSports or in the comments when you see this posted on our Facebook page at The All-American.)
National list of active 20-game high school football win streaks
As long as they continue to win, the Marion Local [Maria Stein, OH] Flyers will continue to be the top team on this list. The Flyers escaped with a 20-19 win in a game with a controversial call that helped the Flyers late Friday night against the Versailles [OH] Tigers.
Since this is a major topic of conversation in Ohio today…

Shot by @KimAllenWDTN, here is our angle of the 4th down play that was ruled a catch for Marion Local.
It led to the game-winning TD against Versailles — thwarting what would have been a historic upset for the Tigers. pic.twitter.com/CMuUbObW7H
The second-place team on our list was also in action, and the Garden City [NY] Trojans picked up their 57th straight win in a 42-0 victory over the East Meadow [NY] Jets.
And then there are those five new schools joing our list of teams on active win streaks of 20 or more games; the Adams Central [Monroe, IN] Flying Jets, Grayson [Loganville, GA] Rams, New Palestine [IN] Dragons, Notre Dame Academy [Green Bay, WI] Tritons, and Sevier County [Sevierville, TN] Smoky Bears will be here moving forward until their next loss whenever that comes.
Phoebus and Hammond were the only teams on last week's list to lose
The Phoebus [Hampton, VA] Phantoms entered Saturday afternoon's game against the Warwick [Newport News, VA] Raiders one game shy of tying their own Virginia state record for consecutive wins.
Phoebus established the current state record with 52 straight wins back in 2011, and they were sitting on a current streak of 51 consecutive wins before running into a Warwick squad that was determined not to be a footnote in the Phantoms' history. Warwick came away with a 34-20 victory early Saturday evening to end what was the nation's third-longest active win streak.
Meanwhile, the Hammond [Columbia, SC] Skyhawks also ran into trouble at home Friday night against the visiting Northwood Academy [Charleston, SC] Chargers. Ultimately, the Skyhawks were unable to keep their 28-game streak alive in a 23-10 loss to the Chargers.
