The No. 15 DeSoto [TX] Eagles are in Georgia to take on the Creekside [Fairburn, GA] Seminoles.

FAIRBURN, Georgia, Aug. 30 — It's one of the biggest one-year turnarounds you'll ever see.

One year after losing 70-0 at the DeSoto [TX] Eagles, the Creekside [Fairburn, GA] Seminoles turned the tables and hung 70 points of their own on the 2025 edition of those same Eagles back home in Georgia. The two teams played two identical halves Saturday afternoon with Creekside winning each half, 35-14, en route to a 70-28 win.

Three of Decatur's touchdowns came on kick returns following Creekside touchdowns. Outside of that, DeSoto's offense was only one touchdown better than the Seminoles were a year ago in their scoreless effort in Texas.

For No. 15 DeSoto, the loss to an unranked Creekside squad was bad enough that the Eagles will fall out of the Top 25. They'll get an opportunity to potentially play their way back in with a win next Friday at No. 12 North Crowley [Fort Worth, TX], but the Panthers looked shaky themselves in a 22-18 victory Thursday against the unranked Lancaster [TX] Tigers.

Still, it's possible DeSoto will right the ship and make a decent run a la these Creekside Seminoles that shook off that 70-0 loss and ended up going 10-2 over the rest of the 2024 season. This win has the Seminoles dreaming even bigger dreams – like possibly making a run at Georgia's GHSA Class 4A state title.

The 3-0 Seminoles get a week off, one that would be well-spent working on their only apparent weakness in kickoff coverage. They'll face the Forest Park [GA] Panthers next on September 12.
