Williams was his exceptional self in the 49-14 victory, racking up 345 yards and five touchdowns. Originally an Oregon commit, the 6-foot-1 Williams flipped to Lincoln Riley and the Trojans after a junior season that saw him put up 2,926 yards passing and 42 touchdowns while rushing for another 395 yards and seven scores.
He started his high school career at Bolingbrook, throwing for nearly 2,800 yards and 37 touchdowns as a freshman. Williams followed that up with 3,196 yards and 33 TDs as a sophomore at Bolingbrook before arriving at Lincoln-Way East in 2024.
The Griffons were one of the best in Illinois a year ago, reaching the Class 8A state semifinals before a three-point setback to Loyola Academy, who went on to capture the championship.
Lincoln-Way East has been untouchable this year, shutting out Maine South and Kankakee 81-0 in the first two weeks. Neuqua Valley was able to put seven up on the board, but lost to the Griffons in the league opener, 56-7.
Up next for Williams and Lincoln-Way East will be a road trip to Naperville Central this Friday night. They close out the regular season with four October dates against Metea Valley, Homewood-Flossmoor, Naperville North and Sandburg.
