No. 10 St. Thomas Aquinas will host Boyd Anderson Friday night still seeking its first win after last week's 26-23 loss to No. 1 Mater Dei.

The No. 10 St. Thomas Aquinas [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Raiders return to more familiar competition this week by hosting the unranked Boyd Anderson [Lauderdale Lakes, FL] Cobras.

The Raiders are coming off an emotional 26-23 loss at home last weekend to the nation's top-ranked Mater Dei [Santa Ana, CA] Monarchs in the Broward County National Football Showcase. They'll look to right the ship against a Cobras' squad from Boyd Anderson that will likely be in over its head.

Aquinas is the defending Florida FHSAA Class 5A state champions, and the Raiders entered the season with high hopes of competing for a national championship. It would take a small miracle now for Aquinas to get back into the picture, even from the No. 10 slot, because they'll need several teams in front of them to lose at least once. And they probably need Mater Dei to lose twice.

That's a tall order, and in the meantime, all they can do is take care of business Friday night against a Cobras' squad that was just 4-6 in 2024. This should be Win No. 1 of the 2025 season for the Raiders.
