Last season, Baton Rouge area schools Catholic and Central made deep runs in their respective Division I brackets.

This season's game will be the first domino to fall in a competitive District 4-5A as the Wildcats welcome the Bears. Since the series resumed in 2022, Catholic has won all three matchups.

Catholic snapped a two-game losing streak last week as it soundly defeated Liberty, 38-16. Running back Jayden Miles finished with 146 yards and three touchdowns to pace the Bears, as they bounced back from losses to West Monroe and Madison-Ridgeland (Miss.)

Central also recovered from a loss of its own after beating Woodlawn (Baton Rouge), 38-21. Shane Brown led Central with 133 yards.
