GREG LOVETT/PALM BEACH POST / USA TODAY NETWORK

On one side, a defending champion is looking to regroup after a tough loss in its season opener. On the other, 2025 brings hope after a rough 2024 season.

Chaminade-Madonna dropped six spots in this week's The Sporting News National High School Football Top 25 after a 42-13 loss to No. 4 St. Frances Academy (Md.). McArthur is opening its season after going 2-8 last year.

In the only meeting between the two schools, the Lions defeated the Mustangs, 21-12, in 2019.

POSTGAME

McArthur made things interesting in the fourth quarter, but No. 16 Chaminade-Madonna had other plans as it notched its first win of the season.

The Lions jumped out to a 21-0 lead, before Mustang quarterback Javarius Robinson chipped the deficit to 21-14 with less than seven minutes to go. However, an insurance touchdown by Lee Prince Jr. helps the Lions win their 14th game of their last 15.

Chaminade-Madonna travels to American Heritage next week, while McArthur goes to Miramar.

FOURTH QUARTER

-TOUCHDOWN CHAMINADE-MADONNA. It is now the Lions' turn to add a touchdown as junior running back Lee Prince Jr. goes 26 yards for a rushing touchdown to give them some breathing room. PAT good with 5:30 remaining. (Chaminade-Madonna, 28-14).

-TOUCHDOWN McARTHUR. It is now a one-score game as senior quarterback Javarius Robinson connects with Francois on an 11-yard touchdown pass with 6:41 to go. The Robinson-to-Francois connection has been hard to stop on the last two drives. PAT good. (Chaminade-Madonna, 21-14).

-TOUCHDOWN McARTHUR. Robinson puts the Mustangs on the board with a pair of big plays. The first was a 35-yard pass to junior Javion Francois and two plays later, he scores on a 25-yard quarterback keeper with 9:28 left. PAT good. (Chaminade-Madonna, 21-7).

THIRD QUARTER

-The Lions nearly score again after pulling some trickery on fourth down, but tight end Peter Pierre's pass was too far for senior and Florida State commit Jasen Lopez. Chaminade-Madonna had a scare earlier in the drive as junior Tyler Chance fumbled the football in Mustang territory.

-Chaminade-Madonna's defense is still limiting the McArthur offense and forces it to punt. Junior lineman Trevoris Finley comes away with a sack on the drive.

-We are now underway with the second half in the Battle of Hollywood.

SECOND QUARTER

-TOUCHDOWN CHAMINADE-MADONNA. The Lions are starting to find their groove right before the half as freshman Malik Leonard throws his team's second touchdown pass of the night -- this time a 26-yarder to Denairius Gray. PAT good with 33 seconds to go in the half. (Chaminade-Madonna, 21-0).

-TOUCHDOWN CHAMINADE-MADONNA. The Mustangs put together a solid six-minute drive, but it winds up scoreless. On Chaminade-Madonna's first play in its new drive, sophomore Tromon Isaac Jr. takes a bubble screen 76 yards for a touchdown. PAT good with 2:37 remaining in the half. (Chaminade-Madonna, 14-0).

-Credit to McArthur's defense for playing stout since Hardy's 71-yard rush touchdown as seniors Kevin Jackson and Jakari Johnson have made some plays at the line of scrimmage.

FIRST QUARTER

-The Mustangs' second drive ends with a punt after penalties pinned them deep. However, the McArthur defense forces a three-and-out of its own.

-McArthur goes three-and-out on its first drive, but its defense forces and recovers a fumble on the Lions' second drive. Mustangs have the ball on the CMCP side of the field.

-TOUCHDOWN CHAMINADE-MADONNA. After 97 minutes, we have football and it takes is two plays for the Lions to strike. Elijah Hardy goes 71 yards on a touchdown run for the game's first points with 11:02 left in the 1st. PAT good. (Chaminade-Madonna, 7-0).

PREGAME

- A 90-minute lightning delay has pushed back the start of tonight's game. At 8:10 p.m., it was safe for the teams to resume practicing on the field. Game time will approximately be at 8:30 p.m.

- Live from Hollywood, as No. 16 Chaminade-Madonna makes the two-mile crosstown trek to McArthur.

ABOUT CHAMINADE-MADONNA (0-1)

Last season, the Lions dropped their first two games, but won 13 straight to take the FHSAA Class 1A title.

Chaminade-Madonna struggled to get things going last week against St. Frances Academy, but senior receiver and Florida State commit Jasen Lopez caught six passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. Lopez has three straight 1,200-yard receiving seasons from 2022-2024.

ABOUT McARTHUR

The Mustangs struggled to a 2-8 season in 2024, but got better as the season progressed -- losing two of their last three games by a combined seven points.
