India and Sri Lanka will kick off the Women’s World Cup 2025 on Tuesday, September 30, at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

While both nations boast rich legacies in men's cricket, neither has managed to lift an ODI World Cup in the women's format. For captains Harmanpreet Kaur and Chamari Athapaththu, this tournament could also be their last chance to guide their teams to a historic title.

In the warm-up matches, India suffered a heavy 153-run defeat against England but bounced back with a four-wicket win over New Zealand. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka's match against Pakistan was abandoned due to rain and they suffered a one-run defeat against Bangladesh.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

India vs. Sri Lanka Women's World Cup match predicted XIs, team news

Earlier this month, India faced defending champions Australia in a three-match ODI series. While they went down 2-1, there were several positives from the contest, including Smriti Mandhana's form

Pratika Rawal will join her at the top of the order. At No. 3, Harleen Deol is expected to edge out Jemimah Rodrigues, with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur slotting in at four and Richa Ghosh tasked with the finishing duties.

On the bowling front, 22-year-old pacer Kranti Goud was the leading wicket-taker in the series against Australia and will look to carry that form into the World Cup.

Renuka Singh is set to spearhead the new-ball attack, while the experienced spin trio of Radha Yadav, Deepti Sharma, and Sneh Rana will play a crucial role in the middle overs.

India predicted XI: Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Radha Yadav, Arundathi Reddy, Sneh Rana, Kranti Goud, Renuka Singh

Sri Lanka have been gradually rebuilding after missing out on the 2022 edition. While Chamari Athapaththu remains the side’s talisman, she will be counting on support from young talents like Vishmi Gunaratne and Harshitha Samarawickrama, who are also reliable batters in the team.

With the ball, 20-year-old Dewmi Vihanga stands out as a top prospect, picking up 11 wickets in her maiden ODI series, including a five-wicket haul against South Africa.

The experienced Inoka Ranaweera will be the key spinner. In the pace department, either Sugandika Kumari or Udeshika Prabodani, will feature in the playing XI, supported by the young medium-pacer Malki Madara.

Sri Lanka predicted XI: Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Chamari Athapaththu (c), Kavisha Dilhari, Nilakshika Silva, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Dewmi Vihanga, Malki Madara, Sugandika Kumari, Inoka Ranaweera
