Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new playmaker has returned to Eberechi Eze in the final week before the Premier League season.

What seemed a closed chapter earlier this summer is now active again after the club reopened talks with Crystal Palace.

Eze has been pushed to the top of their list because James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski face long spells out through injury.

Palace have set a £68m [$92m] asking price, according to the multiple reports.

Miguel Delaney [via Transfer News Live] reports Tottenham are £7m [$9m] short of Palace demands.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano [via Spurs Web] has said Eze has already told Palace he would like to join Tottenham.

Arsenal had been in the race earlier in the summer, but they have now reportedly turned their focus to bringing in a left winger instead of a number ten.

While there have been seven new arrivals this summer, but Mohammed Kudus is the only one expected to have a big role this season.

The club are also working on a deal for Brazilian winger Savinho as they look to build a team strong enough to improve on last season’s Europa League win.

With Burnley visiting N17 on Saturday, getting Eze in quickly could give Spurs a major boost for the start of the campaign.
