Bayer Leverkusen and Fenerbahce have had a similar summer in terms of sacking their respective managers after a disappointing start to the new campaign.

While the former Bundesliga champions were looking forward to the new era since Xabi Alonso's departure to Real Madrid, Fenerbahce were eyeing Champions League qualification by winning the playoffs.

However, things didn't fall into place and Leverkusen decided to release Erik ten Hag after only two games whereas Jose Mourinho decided to party ways with Fenerbahce after failing to guide them to the Champions League.

Fenerbahce played against Benfica in the Champions League playoffs for a spot in the Europe's elite club competition, but the Turkish giants finished second best as they lost 1-0 on aggregate.

Now, both clubs are desperate in securing a new manager and the international break allows them some time to carefully work through their options before taking the next step.

As per transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, both the clubs are eyeing a move for former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou, who is on a hiatus after getting sacked from Spurs ahead of this summer.

Interestingly, Postecoglou is now in a position where he could be the man to replace one of the former Manchester United managers at their respective clubs.

Why Postecoglou could be a good option for Leverkusen or Fenerbahce?

Postecoglou was dismissed from his job at Tottenham because of poor returns in the Premier League as they finished 17th in the points table last season, which was their worst finish in the English top flight.

However, the Australian manager also guided the Lilywhites to the much elusive Europa League trophy where they defeated Manchester United in the final.

Overall, he has the pedigree to lead a top European team like Leverkusen or Fenerbahce and replace the likes of Ten Hag or Mourinho with his attacking philosophy and big personality.

He has a massive resume with proven credentials across clubs and countries and at Celtic, he did prove that he would be a successful coach in the league as well.

Postecoglou has won trophies wherever he has gone across three different continents and a team selecting him as their manager after an early season sacking can hardly go wrong with the 60-year-old.

However, it remains to be seen if he eventually secures one of the two positions as Bayer Leverkusen were reportedly also looking at former Dortmund manager Edin Terkic.
