Ibrahima Konate is reportedly keen on making a move away from Liverpool with the end of his current contract in June 2026.
Konate, who arrived at Anfield from German club RB Leipzig in 2021, has not been keen on signing a contract extension with Liverpool and wants to leave the Reds as a free agent next summer, as per several reports.
Konate has already been linked with a move to prominent clubs, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, amid these top options, the Frenchman has been clear on Real Madrid being his next preferred destination, according to Foot Mercato.
Why is Ibrahima Konate looking for a move away from Liverpool?
Konate's potential departure from Anfield will be a loss for Liverpool, and it will be more so if the 26-year-old leaves on a free transfer.
The defender, meanwhile, has turned down Liverpool's initial proposal of an extension, as the structure of the contract offer did not match his demands of a higher basic wage, according to The Guardian.

Reports have also suggested that Liverpool might consider selling Konate this summer or prior to his contract expiry to avoid letting go of the player for free.
It remains to be seen if Konate is able to pursue his preference and join Real Madrid next.
