The league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League comes to a conclusion this week as teams battle for those coveted places in the next round.

With sides still bidding for a place in the Round of 16, either automatically or via the knockout playoffs, there is plenty at stake as we head into matchweek eight of the competition.

Fans will also notice a change to the schedule this week, with no games taking place on Tuesday, as is traditional.

Why are there no Champions League matches today?

The reason there are no games this Tuesday (January 27) is because all matches are taking place on Wednesday (January 28).

As part of the changed format beginning in the 2024/25 season, UEFA decided to stage all games on matchday eight at the same time in order to make the competition fairer. All 18 matches will therefore kick off at 9 p.m. CET. The below table shows how that translates to major territories around the globe.
