Manchester City will be bidding to close the gap at the top of the table when they face Aston Villa in a Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's side is finally hitting their stride, and have been unbeaten in nine outings across competitions. Goal machine Erling Haaland scored a brace to snatch two crucial points against Everton in the league last weekend and also scored once in a 2-0 victory over Villareal in the Champions League.

City is currently placed second in the Premier League standings, just three points off leaders Arsenal.

Villa, meanwhile, came from behind to score two goals against Tottenham Hotspur to seal an impressive victory away from home, extending their unbeaten streak to five matches in English top-flight.

Unai Emery's side have turned the tables after a mixed start to their season, winning their previous three league outings. However, they suffered a disappointing 1-2 defeat at the hands of Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League mid-week.
