The U.S. Women's National Team enters the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup with a chance to make some more history: The powerhouse is seeking its third consecutive World Cup title and enters as the betting favorite to win it all again.

That doesn't mean the Americans won't face a few major threats along the way, particularly with some key injuries that have forced roster changes. The most significant blow was the loss of Mallory Swanson, who suffered a torn patellar tendon in April.

While there are a handful of familiar names on the 23-player U.S. roster, 14 new additions means the team has undergone its most dramatic roster transformation between World Cups. Will inexperience be a factor on the biggest stage in women's soccer?

From fresh faces to familiar stars, here's a look at the U.S. Women's National Team roster, from youngest players to the oldest:

Who is the youngest player on the USWNT World Cup roster?

18-year-old Alyssa Thompson is the youngest player and only teenager on the U.S. Women's World Cup roster. Thompson was just 10 years old when Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan won the World Cup together in 2015, and she will now be playing alongside the American greats as the U.S. tries to win its third consecutive title.

Thompson was the first overall pick of the 2023 NWSL Draft, landing with Angel City FC in January. She made her league debut while still a high schooler, and made her USWNT debut in 2022, a month before turning 18. She has yet to score a goal in four appearances with the national team.

Who is the oldest player on the USWNT World Cup roster?

Megan Rapinoe is the oldest player on the U.S. Women's National Team, at 38 years old — three years older than her next-oldest teammate, Alyssa Naeher. She's not expected to serve as a starter during this year's World Cup.

Rapinoe was the face of the U.S. title run during the 2019 World Cup, and has 63 career goals in 199 USWNT appearances. She was the Golden Boot winner in 2019 as the top goal-scorer, and her leadership could be valuable for some of the inexperienced pieces of the 2023 World Cup roster.
