Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future at PSG has reached a tricky point as talks over a new contract have stalled.
The Ligue 1 champions are clear they want the Italian to sign new terms this summer, to avoid any uncertainty as the season progresses, but so far the discussions have gone nowhere.
Donnarumma, who played a key role in PSG’s UEFA Champions League win last season with match winning displays against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal is a crucial figure in the dressing room and amongst the fans.
However, the offer currently on the table is believed to be a combination of a fixed base salary with a performance-related variable portion, something that has not sat well with those close to the 26-year-old goalkeeper.
The former AC Milan No.1 has one year left on his existing contract, but the situation is becoming increasingly fragile, and PSG know they may need to make a decision soon if things don’t move forward.
The club cannot afford to risk losing such a high-valued player for free next summer and that may push them to explore a sale before the window closes.

As a precaution, PSG have reportedly sounded out Lille’s Lucas Chevalier as a potential successor, in case talks with Donnarumma completely break down and they are forced to move on sooner than planned
Man City and Bayern Munich chase Donnarumma
Nicolo Schira reports Bayern Munich and Manchester City have flagged up an interest in Donnarumma.
Bayern Munich are seeking a long-term heir to Manuel Neuer, while City are preparing for life after Ederson, who could also leave this summer.

City have identified Donnarumma as one of the top candidates to replace Ederson at the Etihad Stadium but they are also considering Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen as part of their planning.
If PSG and Donnarumma remain at odds over his renewal, Luis Enrique may have no choice but to negotiate his exit, and plan for the next phase at the Parc des Princes.
