At the turn of the year in the 2025/26 Premier League season, Wolves relegation looks all but certain.
Hit by the losses of key players Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri over the summer, along with financial turmoil off the field, Wolves remained winless heading into their trip to face Cunha and Manchester United on December 30.
Vitor Pereira successfully steered the Midlands club away from relegation trouble last term but paid with his job on November 2.
Former crowd favourite and ex-Luton Town boss Rob Edwards returned to Molineux as manager but has not, as yet, been able to oversee a change in fortunes.
Wolves appear certain to record one of the worst totals the modern English top flight has ever seen.

What is the lowest points total in Premier League history?
The record for the lowest points total in a single Premier League season belongs to Derby County. The Rams were relegated at the end of the 2007/08 season with a measly 11 points from 38 matches. Their 1-0 win at home to Newcastle United on September 17, 2007 was the only league game they won all season.
Wolves were winless through 18 games of 2025/26, with just two points to their name. As the season approached the halfway point, Derby's unwanted record was looking very vulnerable.
Southampton's dismal 2024/25 relegation campaign ran Derby very close as they limped to a 12-point season.
One note on the below table: Portsmouth finished the 2009/10 season on 19 points, but that was partly due to a nine-point deduction issued after the cash-strapped club went into administration, so we've omitted them from the list.
Premier League lowest points totals
| Team | Season | Points | Goals Scored | Goals Conceded |
| Derby County | 2007/08 | 11 | 20 | 89 |
| Southampton | 2024/25 | 12 | 26 | 86 |
| Sunderland | 2005/06 | 15 | 26 | 69 |
| Huddersfield Town | 2018/19 | 16 | 22 | 76 |
| Sheffield United | 2023/24 | 16 | 35 | 104 |
| Aston Villa | 2015/16 | 17 | 27 | 76 |
| Sunderland | 2002/03 | 19 | 21 | 65 |
Premier League record for most goals conceded and worst goal difference
Sheffield United set a new benchmark for the most goals conceded in a single Premier League season. They became the first team to be breached more than 100 times in a 38-game season, letting in 104 goals
The previous outright record for most goals ever conceded in one Premier League season belonged to Swindon Town, but their 100 goals against in 1993/94 were spread over 42 matches, not 38.
The Blades' tally of 35 goals scored is the best among the other five teams with the lowest points totals in the Premier League era, although this did not stop them from matching Derby's overall worst goal difference of -69

Premier League record for most defeats in a season
Sheffield United lost 29 games in 2020/21 to tie Derby County in 2007/08 and Sunderland in 2005/06 for the most defeats in one season.
Ipswich Town also lost 29 games in 1994/95, but as that was still in the era of 42 matches per season, it's not quite as bad.
Wolves were already more than halfway towards that total, with 16 defeats before the turn of the year in 2025/26.
Premier League record for fewest wins in a season
Wolves are still saerching for the win to match Derby's solitary success in 2007/08
Premier League record for fewest goals scored in a season
Derby scored just 20 times in 2007/08 to set this particular benchmark. Once again, Wolves are within touching distance of ignominy after netting 10 goals in 18 matches.
