Bayern Munich were in a perilous state until Vincent Kompany was appointed ahead of the last season and the Belgian has brought a lot of positivity by winning the Bundesliga.

However, he is expected to take it up a notch and with Bayern's perfect start to the 2025/26 campaign, Kompany is on the right track as he has developed a great identity in Munich and will be looking to take them to great heights.

Germany legend and former Bayern Munich defender, Philipp Lahm hailed the 39-year-old manager who was doubted by pundits and fans ahead of his appointment at the club.

Lahm highlighted how Bayern were in a rough spot after multiple coaching dismissals when the Belgian joined and he has completely transformed the atmosphere with his positivity, which speaks a lot about his managerial skills.

"He has brought calmness to the club. That wasn't the case before," Lahm shared in an interaction with BILD. "There have been many coaching changes, and it's difficult to bring calm to a club like FC Bayern. They've managed that now. Nevertheless, we'll have to wait and see how good the team really is when they advance in the Champions League, and the knockout matches come up."

Kompany has silenced his doubters with Bayern Munich's cohesion pressing structure, flexibility and tactical astuteness which has helped them start this season with 10 straights wins.

In his second season in Munich, the Belgian manager has already broken several Bundesliga and club records and is destined to achieve great things if things fall in place in his audacious Bayern project.

What did Lahm say about Bayern Munich's competition in Bundesliga?

The Bavarians have dominated the Bundesliga and hence they are known as the Rekordmeister for winning the league crown a whopping 33 times.

Since 2012/13 season, Bayern Munich have won the league title in each and every season, the only exception was Bayer Leverkusen's stellar 2023/24 campaign where they won the title unbeaten.

Lahm also feels that the Bavarians are the overwhelming favourites to retain the Bundesliga title for yet another campaign.

"It’s been a while since it was a two-horse race for the championship," Lahm opined.

"I always see FC Bayern at the top. Leverkusen was there the year before last, but otherwise Bayern are always the favourites. You can see that again now, they have more quality than Dortmund, Leipzig, Leverkusen, and Frankfurt."

Overall, Kompany has brought stability to the club and have once again made them invincible in Germany, but the real challenge will be in the Champions League.

For now, Bayern Munich have won all of their 10 competitive games this season heading into the October international break. In this period, they have scored whopping 36 goals while conceding only eight.
