Manchester City hunt for a coveted top-eight spot in the Champions League table as they close out the league phase with a home match against Turkish giants Galatasaray on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola's side sit 11th in the standings heading into the final matchday, one of a whopping nine teams level on 13 points. That means passage straight to the Round of 16 could come down to goal differential in the end.

Yet with so many contenders right on their hip, City will first need to concentrate on simply winning this match against a quality opponent.

Galatasaray have played both up and down to their opposition so far in Europe, beating Liverpool and drawing with Atletico Madrid while losing to Monaco and Union Saint-Gilloise. Victor Osimhen proved dangerous in front of goal at the recent Africa Cup of Nations and scored on the weekend in Galatasaray's latest Super Lig match.

Man City vs. Galatasaray prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Galatasaray +1.5 goals (+130 on DraftKings)
  • Score prediction: Man City 1-2 Galatasaray

Last time Galatasaray faced off against a Premier League opponent, they came away with three points as they downed Liverpool at home back in late September. The prospect of going on the road and beating a team like Man City is a much tougher task, but there's still reason to believe it's possible.

Most importantly, the Turkish side is full of players with Premier League experience, including former Man City stars Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane, former Arsenal destroyer Lucas Torreira, and ex-Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez.

City are battling for a top-eight spot, but with a stretch of upcoming Premier League matches against Tottenham, Newcastle United, and Liverpool on the docket for Guardiola, this could be a moment sacrificed to give rest to some of his most important players. Erling Haaland was only a substitute in the weekend win over Wolves and so should start, but those such as Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, and other high-usage stars could swap out.

There's upset potential in this game for Galatasaray if they play as well on the counter-attack as they did last time out against Atletico Madrid, and even if they don't pull out the win or even a draw, there's every reason they can keep it close. Take advantage of the odds swung wildly in the favor of the Premier League giants.

Man City vs. Galatasaray best bet

  • Pick: Victor Osimhen 2+ total shots
  • Odds: +225 (DraftKings)

This is a huge window of opportunity given the crazy disproportionate odds in this match.

Osimhen is a shot machine, taking 4.6 efforts on goal per game across his 7.6 Champions League matches. That includes a goose egg last time out against Atleti, a number that doesn't quite reflect the danger he presented in that match. Galatasaray played well on the counter, and while Osimhen grew frustrated as the game went on, he was still heavily involved. The offside flag played a role in the final count, and he often suffered from isolation rather than poor play.

Osimhen's goal-scoring hasn't been up to standards in Europe this season, missing seven big chances through seven games, which makes his +215 anytime goal-scorer odds less palatable, but asking him to take two total shots is a low bar to clear for a world-class No. 9.

Man City vs. Galatasaray prop bet

  • Pick: Mario Lemina to be booked
  • Odds: +290 (DraftKings)

The former Fulham and Southampton midfielder has always been a yellow-card machine, and that hasn't changed since he has earned a more regular starting place in Galatasaray's XI.

Now 32 years old, Lemina has earned two yellow cards in his past four league appearances, to go along with his two yellows in Champions League play, which came against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, the two toughest teams on their European schedule up to this point.

Up against a Man City midfield that can frustrate an opponent with possession, Lemina is primed for another booking from today's Spanish referee.
