Little more than two months after ending their campaign with a UEFA Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, Liverpool return to Premier League action to start their 38-game top-flight season in 2022/23.

The Reds were in the title race until the final day of the 2021/22 campaign, missing out to champions Manchester City by a single point despite nearly pipping the Citizens for the title on the final day.

Liverpool had an outstanding season, losing only two league games — fewer than any other team — as they pursued a quadruple, settling for the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Will Jurgen Klopp's side be engaged in another title battle? Can they outperform City this time, or will other sides come into the reckoning at the top of the table? Here's the schedule they'll face:

Liverpool in the Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup

Liverpool were formidable in the 2021/22 Champions League, only falling at the final hurdle when they were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the final at the Stade de France — and they will no doubt be considered contenders again in 2022/23.

After beating Chelsea in the final of both competitions last season, Liverpool join the Carabao Cup in November and the FA Cup in January in 2022/23.

Liverpool Premier League betting odds

As you might expect, only City are priced shorter than Liverpool to win the 2022/23 Premier League title.

That means there are decent rewards on offer for punters who believe Liverpool will win the title for the first time since the 2019/20 season.

Liverpool best & worst Premier League finish

Liverpool have become serial contenders since Klopp guided the club to the 2018/19 Champions League title.

Their emphatic Premier League triumph in 2019/20 ended a 30-year wait for the top-flight title at Anfield, and only City's domination has denied them repeating that glory at least once since then.

Liverpool's worst finishes in the Premier League came when they finished eighth in 1993/94 and during Klopp's first season in charge in 2015/16, as well as in 2011/12, when their points tally of 52 was their lowest since 1954.
