Daniel Farke has issued a call for new attacking additions at Leeds United ahead of the team's imminent return to Premier League football.

The German is currently preparing for his side's opening league fixture with Everton in a fortnight (August 18), and as of now, the options available to him in the forward line are scarce.

So far, Lukas Nmecha is the only new attacker to join last season's Championship winners, with the German having joined for free after his contract expired at VfL Wolfsburg.

Leeds were keen to bring Brazilian, Igor Paixao, to the club from Feyenoord, but the 25-year-old turned down Farke's side and opted for a move to Marseille instead.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was also a target earlier this summer after his contract expired at Everton, but his high wage demands put off Leeds from acquiring the English striker.

The Whites are reportedly keen to sign Leicester City's Bilal El Khannouss, who wants out of his current club after The Foxes relegation to the Championship.

However, a potential deal to sign the Moroccan international is not close yet and he is attracting interest elsewhere.

Current Leeds attackers, Patrick Bamford, and Mateo Joseph, are not in Farke's plans for the upcoming season, but are yet to sign for another club.

Farke's take on Leeds' current attacking options

After Leeds' 1-1 draw with Villarreal in pre-season on Saturday (August 2), Farke gave an honest view on the quality of his side's frontline.

The Leeds boss commented: "We are not naive. We know that even in comparison to our Championship offence you could say that we are not much improved."

"In the offence we are not ready for Premier League level."

The German then worryingly suggested that the first league against Everton could come too early for his side.

"I can't guarantee that for the first game everything is really ready and we are fully equipped. We are not anxious but fully aware we need to do something," the 48-year-old stated.

Farke will be hoping Leeds get moving in the transfer market and provide him with some quality attacking options, otherwise a tough league campaign could be on the cards for the West Yorkshire club.
