After winning the Championship last season in runaway fashion, Fulham will look to bring their goalscoring prowess back to the English top flight.

There are, however, plenty of concerns regarding the club's defence, as the London club yo-yo back to the Premier League.

They bagged an incredible 106 goals last season across 46 league matches, with striker Aleksandar Mitrovic setting a Championship record with 43 goals himself. However, the backline proved leaky down the stretch and gave fans flashbacks to their past two Premier League campaigns, which have both been calamitous at the back.

Fulham have see-sawed between the Premier League and Championship for five consecutive seasons, either going up or dropping down in each successive campaign. They will look to finish above the bottom three in the Premier League for the first time since 2012/13, the year before relegation ended the club's 13-year run in the top flight.

Fulham in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup

Fulham eventually fell to Premier League opponents in both domestic cup competitions last season.

A home loss on penalties to Leeds United saw them exit the Carabao Cup in the third round in early October. This season, that competition kicks off sooner, with Fulham entering in the second round, which takes place in late August.

Manchester City presented a predictably difficult FA Cup draw last year, resulting in an eventual 4-1 loss for Fulham in January. The FA Cup returns in early November this coming season, with Fulham entering in the third round, which takes place in January.

Fulham Premier League betting odds

Fulham's odds reflect their status as one of the newly promoted Premier League sides. The oddsmakers remember how Fulham's last two trips in the English top flight ended, and the Whites are given hardly a chance to remain in the league.

While Mitrovic is a long shot with some sportsbooks for the EPL's top goalscorer, the outlook for the club is otherwise predicted to be grim.

Fulham best & worst Premier League finish

Since Fulham's first Premier League season in 2001/02, they have finished as high as seventh, which came in the 2008/09 campaign. That season's league finish was critical to the club's history, as it qualified them for the UEFA Europa League, where they would eventually advance all the way to the final and go just a Diego Forlan extra-time winner from hoisting the trophy.

During that season, Clint Dempsey and Andy Johnson shared the team's Premier League top-scorer mark with seven goals each. It included a home win over London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as wins at Craven Cottage over both Manchester clubs.

While Fulham have never finished bottom of the Premier League, the Whites have been relegated on three separate occasions, finishing 19th twice. They were sent down in 2013/14, finishing second from bottom, as 32 points were only above Cardiff City's 30. That season, they had the worst goal difference in the league, as an incredible 85 goals conceded resulted in a -45 differential.

They were again relegated in 2018/19 with a 19th-place finish, also conceding more than 80 goals and finishing with just 26 points, only better than the 16 points collected by bottom-placed Huddersfield Town.
