Is Cristiano Ronaldo in Fast and Furious 11? Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson 'movie set' photos sparks fan debate image

Cristiano Ronaldo has already conquered so many mountains when it comes to both football accolades and his status as a celebrity.

Alongside his multiple individual and team trophies throughout his glittering sports career, Ronaldo has also achieved a number of off-field accomplishments.

The Portugal forward was named in Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world in 2014, was the first person on Instagram to pass 500 million followers, has his own cologne fragrance, wrote an autobiography, and has made many other forays into popular culture.

The 40-year-old Al Nassr star may now be able to add acting to his long list of lifetime accomplishments, if Vin Diesel's social media activity is anything to go by.

AllSportsPeople explains how Ronaldo might be kicking off a film career he's been eyeing for a number of years, and where fans may be able to see him on screen in the future.

Is Cristiano Ronaldo in Fast and Furious 11?

While not officially confirmed, it would appear that Ronaldo has been cast in the 11th instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise, titled Fast X: Part 2.

Vin Diesel posted on Instagram a photo of him with Ronaldo in mid-December, with the caption indicating that the forward has been given a role in the movie. "Everyone asked, would he [Ronaldo] be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you he is a real one. We wrote a role for him…"

The vague language used in this post and other official dealings is likely due to the fact that the final edit of the movie has yet to be completed. Until then, it's not known whether Ronaldo's part will make the final cut, which is sometimes a risk with celebrity cameos.

Still, if multiple actors were willing to publicize his appearance in the script and — supposedly — on set, it's likely he is considered an important member of the cast.

AllSportsPeople has reached out to Universal Studios for comment, but has not received a response as of this writing.

How Tyrese Gibson 'movie set' photo sparked fan debate

Fast & Furious regular Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce, set the internet alight when he posted a photo on his official X (formerly Twitter) account of Ronaldo with a number of main actors from the upcoming movie.

The photo appeared to be on set, as there were two sports cars in the background. In the photo alongside Ronaldo were Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Gibson, and Ludacris.

"Welcome to the FAMILY! @Cristiano" Gibson wrote, referring to the 'Fast Family' which is the colloquial term for actors who appear in the franchise. "The GLOBAL DANCE JUST WENT INTO NEW HEIGHTS!!!!!!"

Some online speculated that the photo appeared AI-generated. While that seems unlikely, as it was shared from Gibson's official account, AllSportsPeople has not verified its authenticity.

Are Ronaldo and Vin Diesel friends?

The relationship between Ronaldo and Vin Diesel is unknown prior to the filming of Fast X: Part 2.

However, the two do share a number of interests in common. Both are famously into personal fitness, and both share a love for fancy cars, which is likely how Diesel convinced Ronaldo to take part in the movie.

Ronaldo has a multi-million dollar luxury car collection, which at various times has included Bugattis, Ferraris, Rolls-Royces, McLarens, Lamborghinis, Porches, Bentleys, and Aston Martins, amongst others.

Does Ronaldo want to be an actor?

Ronaldo has specifically indicated he hopes to have an acting career after he is finished playing football.

Back in 2019, Ronaldo said at a sports conference in Dubai: "One of the things that I seek to challenge myself in, for example, is acting in a movie."

While Ronaldo has never appeared on the big screen in an acting role, he has filmed numerous commercials and promotional videos, experience that will surely help him make the transition should he choose to more regularly.

Is Ronaldo playing at the World Cup?

Ronaldo is aiming to play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The 40-year-old already has the most caps and goals in the history of men's international football, and should he appear in the 2026 tournament, it would mark his sixth all-time World Cup appearance, which would give him the most ever. It would be joint-most if Lionel Messi also appears in his sixth World Cup at the same time.

Should he remain healthy and fit for action, he is almost certain to appear for Portugal.
