The 2024 edition of CONCACAF's top international club competition has been given a face-lift as the old CONCACAF Champions League has been rebranded as the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

With the new name also comes an expanded field, as the 2024 competition has grown to feature 27 participants from across North and Central America.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will compete in the tournament, slotted into the Round of 16 as a seeded team thanks to their victory in the inaugural 2023 Leagues Cup. They join MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew as MLS clubs with byes to the Round of 16, while the likes of FC Cincinnati, St. Louis City SC, the Vancouver Whitecaps, and others must navigate matchups in the first round.

An American club will hope to claim the continental title for just the second time since 2000, with the Seattle Sounders' victory in 2022 standing alone as the only MLS victory in the competition's modern age. The rest of the winners have all been from Mexico, outside of a pair of Costa Rican clubs winning in 2004 and 2005.

What teams qualified for 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup?

The CONCACAF Champions Cup is the North American continental club championship, or the equivalent of Europe's UEFA Champions League.

The CONCACAF Champions Cup is meant to compile all the top clubs in North and Central America from the previous year into one knockout tournament, which crowns a continental club champion. As it has been since its inception, the tournament is a straight knockout bracket, with no group stage to start things off.

While recent years featured 16 teams in the knockout tournament, the 2024 competition will expand to 27. Five champions of various competitions will earn a bye to the Round of 16, while everyone else enters the tournament in the first round.
