Hoffenheim goalkeeper Oliver Bauman recently featured for Germany during the international break in September mainly due to Neuer's retirement from international football.

Baumann holds the 39-year-old in high regard as he labelled him as one of the top three goalkeepers in the world right now despite being in the twilight of his footballing career.
"He might clash with one or two others, like Thibaut Courtois, " Baumann told BILD when asked if Neuer is the best goalkeeper in the world. "But he definitely sets the standard; Manuel is one of the top three goalkeepers in the world.
"We have a very good relationship. I really appreciate how he's remained so human and down-to-earth as a world-class goalkeeper. Manu is above it all, both personally and athletically."
Neuer's recent form for Bayern Munich has forced many pundits and even fans to urge him to return to international football for Germany given the World Cup is happening next year.
Currently, Germany are without their designated first-choice option in Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who is sidelined with injury and therefore Baumann has stepped up in his place.
