Manchester United have reportedly received a major boost as Carlos Baleba is expected to request a move away from Brighton in the January transfer window.

The update was provided by the social media account Indykaila News, which wrote: "Exclusive Carlos Baleba will request to leave Brighton in January. Baleba’s agent to meet @OfficialBHAFC in November."

The outlet was cited by trusted journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic.

United had been keen on bringing in Baleba during the summer transfer window but were reportedly discouraged by Brighton’s high valuation, which is believed to be around £115m [$153m].

The Red Devils continue to struggle for consistency in the Premier League only winning three of their opening seven matches this season.

Ruben Amorim has managed only 37 points from his first 34 Premier League matches and faces clear challenges in strengthening key areas of the squad.

United invested heavily in attack during the summer, signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko but Midfield remains a significant concern as Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro have failed to convince with their performances.
