Man Utd register interest in Bundesliga defender as Premier League rivals lurk image

Manchester United are looking into defensive replacements in the coming transfer windows, with Harry Maguire still unsure of his future.

Recent reports have claimed that the club is in negotiations over extending his contract, but the Englishman is approaching his 33rd birthday, meaning his time playing in the Premier League could be winding down.

There has been interest around Marc Guehi, but with many clubs eyeing the player, it's unlikely United could persuade him to join.

A top Bundesliga talent is now firmly on the radar of United, but the club will face league rivals in the race for his signature.

Which Bundesliga talent is United interested in?

According to Fichajes, Man United are keeping an eye on RB Leipzig's Castello Lukeba.

Lukeba, who is just 22 years old, is seen as a promising young player who could be a long-term replacement in defense.

The central defender is highly sought after, though, with both Liverpool and Chelsea seeing the young player as a key investment.

All three Premier League sides have struggled with injuries to their defenders, and replacements are constantly being looked at.

The defender has a release clause of around €90m, or £78.1m, but Leipzig could let him go for closer to €60m, which is around £52m.

United could end up losing out on Lukeba, as their main priority is signing a midfielder, but the club retains an interest in the Frenchman's status.
