Jack Grealish is on the verge of swapping Manchester for Merseyside in a move few saw coming.

Manchester City and Everton have reportedly reached an agreement for the England international to join on a season-long loan, with a medical scheduled later.

The 29-year-old has said yes to the Everton project, according to Fabrizio Romano, and is set to complete the switch within 24 hours.

City will cover part of his £300,000-a-week wages, removing the biggest hurdle in negotiations.

Grealish’s time at City has been a mix of highs and frustrating spells on the bench. He played a key role in the 2022–23 treble-winning season, but last year saw his minutes shrink to just seven Premier League starts.

Pep Guardiola admitted in June that the forward “has to come back to play and have the butterflies in his stomach,” hinting that a move was best for his career.

Everton boss David Moyes wasted no time moving for the former Aston Villa captain. The Toffees have been busy in the market this summer, and Grealish will become their fifth arrival.

The aim is clear — more creativity, more goals, and a bit of swagger on the wings.

Grealish leaves City with an impressive trophy haul: three Premier League titles, a Champions League medal, an FA Cup, and a Club World Cup. In 157 appearances, he scored 17 goals and set up 23.

Still, competition from Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, and Kevin De Bruyne left him fighting for minutes.

For Grealish, Everton offers a fresh start and a chance to be the main man again. For Moyes, it’s adding a player who knows the league inside out — and can turn a tight game with one clever touch.

The question now is whether the move can reignite the form that made him a £100 million signing.
