Liverpool star slams team for 'lacking structure' as losing streak continues image

Defending Premier League champions Liverpool remain mired in their worst run of form under Arne Slot.

The Reds have now lost four successive top-flight matches - and five out of six across all competitions - following a 3-2 defeat away at Brentford.

Goals from Dango Ouattara, Kevin Schade and Igor Thiago sealed Slot's fate at the Gtech Community Stadium as he admitted to being short on answers over how to fix the issues.

Slot stated the incoming three home games, against Crystal Palaceon October 29 in the EFL Cup, followed by clashes with Aston Villa and Real Madrid, could offer a form boost back at Anfield.

The Dutch coach continues to tweak his starting line up, as he looks to blend his expensive new signings into the squad, and that lack of balance has also impacted results.

Just five players have started all nine games in the Premier League so far in 2025/26, with Milos Kerkez and Andy Robertson sharing the left-back spot, as the Hungarian netted his first club goal at Brentford.

Kerkez has started all nine, but Robertson has replaced him on four occasions, and the Scotland star was thrown on at the hour mark in West London.

Andy Robertson calls out Liverpool's 'lack of structure' in Brentford loss

Robertson has developed into a leader at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp and Slot, but he called out the manager's tactics after another defeat on the road.

"Coming in at 2-1 down [at half time], we probably didn’t deserve it. But you think, ‘OK, we’ve got a chance here. We can get back in the game'. It was also a good time to score a goal right on half-time.

"But, we didn’t push on from that. Then you're 3-1 down and it’s just about throwing bodies forward and it becomes chaotic. There's no structure to it which is never good.

"We tried to push and nearly scored right at the end but, to be honest, if we got a draw it would have probably flattered us."

Robertson's role off the bench at Brentford marked his 350th Reds appearance, and 255th in the Premier League, one behind former teammate Roberto Firmino on the club's all-time EPL list.
