Jordan Henderson is heading back to where it all began — the Premier League. The former Liverpool captain is set to join Brentford on a two-year deal after leaving Ajax earlier this week, as per reports (via BBC).

At 35, Henderson is not done writing new chapters just yet. Brentford moved quickly to sign the experienced midfielder, beating off interest from several European clubs.

Henderson, though, always had his heart set on returning to England. For him, it’s not just about club football — there’s a World Cup spot to fight for too.

New Brentford boss Keith Andrews sees Henderson as a key figure in the team’s rebuild. With Christian Norgaard off to Arsenal and a few other big names gone, Brentford needed someone to take charge in the middle.

Who better than the man who lifted the Premier League, Champions League, and just about everything else in a Liverpool shirt?

This move also means Brentford have added another ex-Liverpool name to their ranks.

Henderson will join up with former teammates Caoimhin Kelleher, Fabio Carvalho, and Sepp van den Berg. Looks like the Bees are building a mini-Melwood in West London.

“Henderson brings experience, leadership, and quality,” a club source said. “We believe he’ll play a major role in this next phase.”

After a short stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq and a season at Ajax, Henderson now returns to a league he knows inside out. And he’s not just here for nostalgia.

With 84 England caps and a point to prove, he’s aiming to stay in Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the 2026 World Cup.

Brentford may be buzzing with change, but with Henderson in the mix, they’ve added some serious sting in midfield.
