Liverpool bagged a 2-1 win against Everton in the Premier League on September 20, at Anfield.
Ryan Gravenberch opened the scoring for the Reds just 10 minutes into the first Merseyside derby of the season from an assist by Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool's second goal came with Hugo Ekitike finding the back of the net in the 29th minute after being set up by Gravenberch. Idrissa Gueye netted Everton's sole goal of the match from an assist by Iliman Ndiaye in the 58th minute.
Ekitike's goal against Everton was his fourth goal across competitions for Liverpool since his arrival at Anfield from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported transfer fee of £79 million ($107m). Prior to his signing for the Reds, the 23-year-old star was heavily linked with a move to several other clubs, with Newcastle United reportedly being one of his top admirers.
Now, Ekitike has shared his thoughts on opting for Liverpool amid reported interest from other clubs, revealing his aim is to be 'a player who has consistency.'

When asked about the hefty price tag that he came with, Ekitike mentioned that he is 'just focused on the game,' and told Canal+,

"I don't care. I'm just focused on the game. Outside, everyone can talk about the transfer price. It is what it is. Football has changed," as per GOAL.
Speaking about his move to Liverpool, the Frenchman added,
"It was my choice, it's what I wanted. Because I had more of a feeling coming here and I knew it was the right time and the right place for me. I wanted to get back to the top level and come back this time better equipped, more ready in all aspects. And I don't think I made a mistake."
"Obviously, seen from the outside, it can be shocking, but it doesn't shock me. I was in a dynamic where I was also making stats last year and I'm in a good team that seems good to me. I want to be a player who has consistency."
After starting in six out of the seven appearances he has made so far, Ekitike and Liverpool are set to face Southampton in the third round of the Carabao Cup on September 23, at Anfield.
