Alexander Isak’s Liverpool debut has been delayed after the record signing was left out of the squad to face Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday [September 14]
The striker reportedly trained at the club’s AXA facility in Kirkby while his teammates prepared for Turf Moor.
The £125m [$169m] signing from Newcastle United has played less than 20 minutes of competitive football since May and entered the new season without a proper pre season after refusing to train with Newcastle in July.
He returned briefly with Sweden during the international break where he appeared as a substitute.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot confirmed the decision to give him a full training schedule rather than use him for short minutes off the bench.
“We’ve decided it is the best for him to have a proper week of training instead of every time going for five or 10 minutes of playing,” Slot told Sky Sports.
