A week after he picked up a second yellow card and was sent off for his wild celebrations against Liverpool, Enzo Maresca has revealed whether it was worth it or not.
Chelsea went into the international break on a high after Estevao Willian scored his first goal for the club in the dying minutes of the tie against Liverpool to give the Blues an important three points against the Reds.
In the aftermath of the goal, Maresca went wild as he joined his players in the celebration on the touchline and was subsequently sent off for his actions.
Maresca’s actions have drawn mixed reactions from fans and pundits alike.
While some believe that he was entitled to his actions, others are of the opinion that the Italian went overboard with his celebrations.
Now, Maresca has opened up about whether his celebrations were worth the red card or not for the first time since the incident.

Enzo Maresca opens up on his red card against Liverpool
Speaking on stage at the Festival dello Sport, Maresca explained why he felt quite so excited after the late winner against Chelsea, and joked that his sending off was ‘worth it’.

“It’s a great feeling. This is my second season at the club, but we’d never won in the last minute at home before,” Maresca said. “The reaction that led to the sending off was instinctive, but maybe it was worth it.
“We’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in the world, one that has struggled in recent years for various reasons.
“When I first signed, I felt the pressure of being the only Italian not to have won here (in Italy), but fortunately it hasn’t gone that way. Bringing this club back to the top is a very satisfying feeling.”
While Maresca may feel that his red card was worth it against Liverpool, he is set to be suspended from the touchline for Chelsea’s next game in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
