Chelsea are open to the possibility of Moises Caicedo leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

Despite enduring a turbulent Premier League season, Chelsea are open to the possibility of Moises Caicedo leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

According to former Manchester United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown (via Football Insider) — who still has strong ties across the football world — Chelsea are open to considering offers exceeding £100 million.

While the 23-year-old remains part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, there is a feeling his sale would allow them to strengthen other areas of the squad. Caicedo is not expected to be at the top of their list of possible sales, but if Saudi Pro League sides are willing to pay over £100 million for him, the offer will be taken seriously.

What Mick Brown had to say on Moises Caicedo transfer

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that the midfielder has failed to live up to his price tag and could now be allowed to leave.

“For whatever reason, he hasn’t lived up to the price tag,” Brown told Football Insider.

“I find that surprising because, aside from the fee, I think he’s a very good player and I understood why Chelsea were so keen to sign him.”

“The money side of it didn’t seem to matter at the time, they were spending big on everybody. Now, though, the financial situation is starting to play a part in their decisions.

“I don’t think Caicedo will be at the top of their list of players to sell, but I also don’t think they’re going to rule out his exit.

“If they receive an offer from Saudi Arabia, which is around the price they paid for him, so probably about £100 million, it’s something they’ll take very seriously.

“That money would then be invested elsewhere in the squad because they still need improvements.”
