FC Barcelona has started the new season with two wins and one draw so far. One of the stars of the team is Robert Lewandowski, but he has not been featured in the last two games as he had hoped during the summer.
The Polish striker suffered an injury in early August and missed two games for FC Barcelona. He missed the last preseason game, the Joan Gamper Trophy Final against Como, and missed Barcelona's La Liga opener against Mallorca.
He returned to the sqaud for the match against Levante and started on the bench. He played 14 minutes against Levante. He once again did not start for FC Barcelona in the match against Rayo Vallecano last night. He played 12 minutes after coming on in the 78th minute.
Ferran Torres started all three games and has impressed Hansi Flick and some Barcelona fans, but many expect Lewandowski will return to the starting lineup soon.
Lewandowski is currently with the Polish national team ahead of the international break, and he was asked if he is concerned about his playing time at FC Barcelona so far, as the season is three weeks in.
Robert Lewandowski on playing time at FC Barcelona
Lewandowski showed no concern about his playing time at Barcelona so far. Despite not reaching 30 minutes with Barcelona in the league so far, Lewandowski believes his lack of minutes is beneficial for him, as he has just recovered from his recent injury.
Robert Lewandowski: "My lack of minutes at Barça? Let's not fool ourselves, I was injured for two weeks. But the season has just started, it's very long."
Lewandowski looks forward to the rest of the season after Barcelona's 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano. They are on seven points after three games and are in 4th place behind Villarreal, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Madrid.
Robert Lewandowski: "Expect a tough start to the season like last season, and we need to be prepared for that. I prefer to focus on quality matches rather than quantity, so we’ll discuss that."
