Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has not endured too many nights of frustration in his young career.

The 17-year-old played a vital role in Hansi Flick's debut season treble in 2024/25 as the Catalan giants swept up the La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Supercup trophies.

However, the final game of the teenager's extended campaign ended in defeat, as Spain lost out to Portugal in a UEFA Nations League final penalty shootout on June 8.

With the score tied at 2-2 after 120 minutes at the Allianz Arena in Munich, the trophy was decided by spot kicks, as Luis de la Fuente handed his title over to Roberto Martinez.

Spain have won the Nations League and UEFA Euro 2024 crowns under De la Fuente with Lamine Yamal starring in the latter last summer.

Lamine Yamal was not on the pitch to take a penalty, after being substituted in extra time, and his post-match reaction has been meet with plenty of criticism.

How did Lamine Yamal react to Nations League final defeat?

Eagle-eyed fans spotted Lamine Yamal did not hang around to watch Cristiano Ronaldo hoist the trophy aloft in Bavaria.

The winger is rumoured to have headed straight down the tunnel with later reports emerging over his lukewarm acknowledgement of Ronaldo after the game.

The Catalan star is still developing on and off the pitch, but he was called out by Real Madrid legend Guti for his post-match press conference, with the former midfielder calling him unprofessional.

"I think it's the first time I've seen a guy with a cap on backwards in an interview," he told El Chiringuito via Marca.

"If he goes to Ibiza, or wherever he wants, he can do it then. But not with the Spanish national team at a press conference. I don't like it, it's not professional.

"It's not his fault. It's the fault of the people standing next to him with the RFEF, who should tell him not to do it."
