Fermín Lopez reveals Barcelona exit timeline ahead of Spain's World Cup Qualifier image

Barcelona midfielder Fermín Lopez has moved quickly to cool speculation about his future and his relationship with teammate Gavi.

With Spain preparing for their World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Turkey, Lopez used the moment to clear the air.

Over the last few weeks, Spanish media has been buzzing with talk of tension inside the Barcelona camp. Stories suggested Lopez and Gavi had fallen out after an alleged clash involving their partners.

Some even claimed Gavi wanted the club to transfer list Lopez.

Add Chelsea’s late summer bid of around £37 million into the mix, and the noise only grew louder.

What Fermín Lopez said?

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Lopez was firm in his response. “I see myself completing my contract until 2029 at Barcelona. I don't want to leave. I love this club,” he said.

On his bond with Gavi, the 22-year-old midfielder added: “Gavi has been my friend since I was 12. We have a good relationship, as always, and I have nothing more to say about that.”

Lopez admitted he was flattered by Chelsea’s interest but stressed his dream was always Barcelona.

“It’s always a compliment when other clubs show interest, but I never doubted. My priority was always to stay at Barca and succeed here,” he explained.

Now, with Spain back in action, Lopez is eager to focus on football rather than rumors. For Barcelona, he could be seen on the bench against Valencia after the ongoing international break on September 14.
