Team Canada's World Juniors roster just got a major boost.
The San Jose Sharks are going to let Michael Misa play in the tournament.
Sportsnet reported late Tuesday that the 18-year old Sharks rookie will be heading to join the Canadian team on Wendesday.
Misa has been out with an injury, but he was back at Sharks practice this week.
The Sharks were just keeping an eye on him.
“We wanted a few more days with him,” Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters. “He was nicked up. He’s missed some time. (This) gives us more time with our strength coaches, with our resources here, and then he’ll join Team Canada here shortly.”
Misa is a high-end talent to join Team Canada. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Team Canada convened Saturday in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The tournament opens on Dec. 26.
Misa didn't get to take part in the World Juniors a year ago for Canada despite being the CHL's leading scorer.
Now, he gets his chance to suit up for his country and try to prove he belongs.
Misa had one goal and two assists in seven NHL games to start the season for the Sharks. He also had one assist in two games in his AHL conditioning stint recently.
