Macklin Celebrini's every move on the ice at this point is historic or record-breaking.

At least that's the way it seems with the San Jose Sharks' 19-year old phenom.

Now, he's got a chance to chase down a Wayne Gretzky record.

Gretzky reached 100 points in a single season faster than any teenager in NHL history, doing it in the 61st game of the 1979-80 season, according to insider Frank Seravalli.

Sidney Crosby was second-fastest, doing it in 65 games, and Mario Lemieux did it in 73 games.

Saravalli adds that Celebrini is on pace to get to 100 points in 65 games.

He'd need to pick it up just a bit to break the Gretzky mark, but it's possible.

Celebrini is up to 39 games played, and he has 21 goals and 39 assists for 60 points.

Since Christmas, he had a goal and an assist in a win over the Canucks and then a goal and two assists in Monday night's win over the Ducks.

He's on an eight-game point streak, for good measure.

Celebrini is special, and most of what he's doing is getting put into the same company as a teenager as Gretzky and Crosby, which is as good as it gets.
