Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins kicked off their 2025-26 season on Tuesday night.
Year number 21 started quite well for the captain, as his Pens went into Madison Square Garden and shut out his former head coach, Mike Sullivan, and the Rangers in a 3-0 road win.
While that was Crosby's main focus for the night, at the same time, there was another marquee sporting event going on in New York as the Yankees were on the brink of elimination in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays.
During a second-period TV timeout, we had some crossover as the jumbotron showed Aaron Judge's game-tying three-run home run, much to the delight of the New York crowd at MSG.
Video showed footage of Crosby capturing the moment from the bench, and he was asked about it after the game, as well as whether he's cheering for the Blue Jays, being a Canadian. Jomboy Media shared the clip with his response on X (formerly Twitter).
"Yeah, I mean it's pretty hard not to. You know, obviously it's pretty much the whole country cheering for them, so it's always cool to see them in the playoffs. And, yeah, I heard the crowd, and then I heard the jumbotron, and I figured something was coming from that game. I think what was it 6-6? Yeah, so I don't know what it is now, but I'll definitely be following it," Crosby said.

The 38-year-old began the first season of the two-year, $17.4 million extension he signed with the Penguins in 2024. He was held off the scoresheet in the win and will look to tally his first point of the new campaign in Thursday night's home opener against the Islanders.
Conflicting night in New York
It wasn't all sunshine and lollipops in New York on Tuesday night, despite the Yankees' season-saving comeback win over the Blue Jays.
Somewhat overshadowed by the bedlam in the Bronx was the poor performance the Rangers put on in their home opener.
Not only did the Blueshirts lose, but they were also unable to muster up any offense, shut out on their 25 shots by Penguins' goaltender Arturs Silovs.
There were some flashbacks to last year's mess of a season, so new head coach Mike Sullivan could have his work cut out for him to get the Rangers back to the 2023-24 form that had them two wins away from an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals.
