Oilers pull off nonsensical comeback to stun Sharks in most disparate game of NHL season image

The Edmonton Oilers allowed two goals in 95 seconds to begin Thursday night's game against the San Jose Sharks.

That pretty much felt like it'd be how the matchup went for most of the evening. The Sharks got a third tally halfway through the first period, and they kept that 3-0 advantage into the third period.

And then, out of nowhere, the Oilers woke up, at least a bit.

Leon Draisaitl netted 94 seconds into the third period to snap the shutout.

Still, though, the Sharks seemed fine, keeping that 3-1 edge for the next 15-plus minutes.

But with 3:05 to go, and the Oilers skating with an empty net, Connor McDavid scored to pull within a goal. OK, some suspense.

And then with 59 seconds left in regulation, net empty again, Evan Bouchard tied the game at three.

The Oilers got it to overtime, and there, they needed just 66 seconds to complete the epic comeback. Zach Hyman goal, 4-3 Oilers, Sharks stunned.

San Jose got a tough break on a second-period apparent goal by Barclay Goodrow that was called off for goalie interference.

It was looking like it'd be a major statement for the young Sharks, who are trying to prove they're legitimate playoff contenders.

Instead, it ended up being proof that the Oilers are never out of it and can always find a way to win with all the firepower they've got on their roster.
