The Red Wings are a team that are looking to get back in the playoffs this year for what would be the first time since 2016. There will be little room for error this season in what will be a stacked Atlantic division.

As such, there will be players that will be expected to step up if the team is going to make that jump forward in the standings "Hockeytown" has been patiently waiting for. One of those players is Jonatan Berggren.

The 25 year old is entering the final year of his current deal with the organization. He is coming off a decent 24 point season last year, but will be expected to keep progressing. If not, he could be a player who Detroit looks to part with.

What is the outlook on Berggren?

Via Rob Couch of "NHLTradeRumors" he lists Berggren as a player the Wings could move this season. The reason being is he has not fully established himself in a top role with the club and if that does not happen this year a change in destination may be needed.

Much of this depends on how the young Swede performs this year. It is unclear where exactly Berggren projects in the Wings lineup, but via Daily Faceoff he will most likely play bottom 6 minutes as he is used to in Detroit. He may get a chance to earn a top 6 spot up for grabs as the season develops.

We'll see what happens with Berggren and the Wings as it will be a high pressure season in Motown with the "Yzerplan" under increased scrutiny.
