Jason Robertson can't stop scoring goals.
And in the process, the Dallas Stars' star forward has yet to stop making Team USA look dumb for leaving him off their Olympic men's hockey roster.
Robertson scored his 30th goal of the season on Friday.
He's just the third player in the NHL this season to reach that mark, behind Canadian superstars Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid.
Seems like the kind of guy you'd want leading your Olympic attack, right?
Well, no.
Team USA didn't pick Robertson at all, leaving him off in favor of a grit-and-grind lineup that seems destined to come up a goal short in a big game at the tournament.
Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan expressed his continued disbelief to reporters after Friday's game.
"I still don't know why he's not on the team," Gulutzan said.
Robertson is second among all U.S. Skaters in points this season with his 60 after Friday night. Jack Eichel has 61.
The United States kept most of its 4 Nations Face-Off team (which was runner-up) intact, a group Robertson hadn't been a part of.
“I thought that this year was different from last year,” he told reporters in January. “Obviously last year, I didn’t think I was good enough. Now, I think I did. It’s their choice and their decision, and that’s it.”
This choice will loom large if the U.S. Needs a goal and doesn't get one. The hockey world will wait to see how it plays out.
