Keep punching in.
That's what Brent Burns has done, year after year after year.
The star defenseman is 40 years old now, and he hasn't missed a game in more than a decade.
Now with the Colorado Avalanche, Burns is out there again on Friday in Vegas.
It's the 937th consecutive game played by Burns. The Vegas broadcast reported that if Burns plays for the rest of the season, he'll have the second-longest streak ever behind just Phil Kessel.
The last time Burns missed a game was the 2013-14 season.
Since then, he's played eight spotless seasons with the San Jose Sharks (including two shortened because of COVID-19).
After that, Burns went to the Carolina Hurricanes for three seasons in which he didn't miss a single game.
And now Burns has been out there every night for the Avs so far.
All told, Burns has played 1,508 games across 22 NHL seasons. He has 261 goals and 654 assists for 915 points.
Burns has also blocked 1,735 shots and recorded 1,394 hits in his career.
Burns still has his signature beard and his signature 6-foot-5 sturdy frame. He's still a massive presence.
And you can bet on him being out there on the ice each and every night that his team has a game. It's what he does.
