What happened to Connor Bedard? Blackhawks injury update after loss isn't good news image

The Chicago Blackhawks lost on Friday night, but that wasn't the headline.

Connor Bedard got injured in the closing seconds, and that spoiled whatever good was going to come out of the evening in the first place.

Now, Chicago fans have to wait and see what happens next.

What happened to Connor Bedard?

Bedard suffered an apparent right shoulder injury in the final seconds of a 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues.

He was taking a have-to-have-it faceoff to try and set up a last-second shot, and the way he used his body to win the draw appeared to hurt his right arm or shoulder.

He almost immediately skated off the ice, in clear pain.

When is Connor Bedard coming back?

It's not clear when Bedard will play again.

Chicago coach Jeff Blashill told reporters that Bedard wouldn't play Saturday and they'd have to see about his status for Monday.

Blashill called it a "freak accident."
